Celem tej publikacji, z serii "Zeszyty z metafizyki" jest wprowadzenie Czytelnika w nową kulturowo-filozoficzną sytuację, z jaką spotyka się w filozofii współczesnej, gdy podejmuje studia z metafizyki realistycznej. W pierwszej części "Zeszytu" został przedstawiony zarys metafizyki realistycznej, która wyróżnia się autonomią tak co do przedmiotu badań, jak i co do metody oraz celu. Jest typem poznania, które funduje wiedzę rozumiejącą i mądrościową. W drugiej części "Zeszytu" zostały ukazane dzieje i przyczyny wyodrębnienia się ontologii, jako odrębnej obok metafizyki dyscypliny, oraz omówione różnorodne typy nowożytnych i współczesnych ontologii. Czytelnik może zatem dowiedzieć się, że to, co dziś nazywa się "ontologią" niewiele ma wspólnego z ogólną teorią bytu, czyli metafizyką.

There is a discussion of Aristotle’s original conception of being as composed of the elements of matter and form whereby things exist, the conception of man as a being composed of body and soul, and a presentation of the theory of abstract cognition, which is the basis for distinguishing between the natural, the mathematical, and the philosophical science. Trzeci "Zeszyt z metafizyki" prezentuje interpretację rzeczywistości sformułowaną przez Tomasza z Akwinu. Omówione są fundamentalne dla właściwego rozumienia świata teorie: złożenia bytu z istoty i istnienia, stworzenia z niczego, analogicznego bytowania rzeczy. Część "Zeszytu z metafizyki" poświęcono rozumieniu człowieka jako osoby oraz poznaniu sądowemu i separacji metafizycznej. Zamieszczono też fragmenty pism Tomasza z Akwinu.

The third book from the series "Notebooks in Metaphysics" presents interpretation of reality that S. Thomas Aquinas formulated. There are theories, which are fundamental for proper understanding of the world, such as existential conception of being as composed of the elements of essence and existence, the creation from nothing, the analogy of beings. Some parts of this "Notebooks in Metaphysics" (vol. 3) presents the conception of the man as a person and the theory of metaphysical separation and existential judgement-based cognition. The book also presents S. Thomas Aquinas’ texts about new understanding of being, on the creation of being ex nihilo, on the Absolute Being whose essence is existence, etc.

In the "Notebook on Metaphysics” No IV is discussed basic concepts for understanding reality, the so-called: transcendentals: being, thing, the one, separate, truth, the good and beauty. These concepts describe properties of every being and allow to understand that not only man, but every being, animate and inanimate, is rational and purposeful. Rationality of beings manifests itself in the fact that particular things carry in their existence plan of the Creator or an artist. The finality of the world is revealed by the fact that the individual things carry on its existence a specific purpose, founded by the will of the Creator or an artist.

On Causes, Participation and Analogy

The world in which we live, surprises us with the richness of its diversity and complexity. The man who by nature seeks to know the surrounding things also wants to understand what it cognizes. One of the stages of ratiocinative cognition is the discovery of causal and analogical type of being of things. Causal connection as relations permeate everything and take place between things. They are not something that is before a thing, but are the result of created things. With the departure of things into existence by the artist or Creator, there also implicates various kinds of causation that is disclosed to the selection of matter, form or purpose for the created things. On the other hand, the world in which we live captivates us with its variety. Each thing is unique, different, irreducible and therefore analogous. Getting to know each item involves reading out these various kinds of causes and discovering analogical structures of the being of things.

Discovery of the internal structure of beings

The contemporary naturalist wants to create things like the Platonic Demiurge. In the processes of cloning, genetic crosses, creating new mutated forms of plants, it is not just about reforming and processing things, but about being in the role of someone who usurps the power of creation through science. Therefore, the need arises to answer the question whether there are limits to interference in the structure of things, the limits beyond which the intervention ceases to be improvement and goes in the direction of harming and deforming things. This problem is the domain of not only natural sciences, but above all, metaphysics. Metaphysics teaches us to discover the internal structure of things, in which apart from accidental elements are also constitutive elements, means that determine the nature of things, and determine the limit of identity and individuality of things that can not be crossed in any way without destroying the thing itself. The most important goal of book in the series “Notebook No 5” is to introduce the reader to the ability to discover the internal structure of the world of people and things, and thus reach out to such structure of things that no other science than metaphysics can discover.
